Vermont Bridge

The 98-foot long Vermont Bridge was built by the Smith Bridge Company in 1875 with a Smith type #3 truss and originally crossed Wild Cat Creek. It was moved in 1958 to Highland Park in Kokomo and now crosses Kokomo Creek. The Vermont Bridge is closed to all traffic.

Howard County was established in 1844 and named in honor of General T.A. Howard. It is located in North Central Indiana where Kokomo is the County Seat.

Howard County originally had seven (7) covered bridges. Today it has one (1) remaining.

Points of interest in the County include: the Greentown Glass Museum, the Elwood Haynes Museum and Highland Park.
